Information for Relatives and Carers

Information for Relatives and Carers

Carers can be both paid and unpaid. Unpaid carers can refer to many different individuals and they can come from many different backgrounds – a family member, a friend, a neighbour or a colleague.

Carers duties can vary depending on the condition of the person being cared for. Some Carers perform intensive round the clock caring, whereas others may be caring for someone who is more independent but still requires help with many everyday duties.

Caring for someone at the end of life can be emotionally and physically demanding. Therefore It is important that carers at the same time are taking care of their own wellbeing. Carers are entitled to the support they require to help them in providing care.

Practical, financial and emotional help and support services are available for carers to help them continue to manage the care they provide.
